Raise executive-level awareness of the strategic importance of ESG, collaborate to develop sustainability strategies with internal experts, guide clients in broader ESG transformations, and contribute to strategic external communications in accordance with GRI and CSRD/ESRS standards.

To further support our growth in Belgium and make our Sustainability team even more impactful, we are looking for a Senior Sustainability and ESG Consultant.
The job:

Build awareness and insight into the strategic added value of ESG, on an executive level.

Co-create sustainability strategies and roadmaps, by working with topical experts in the company (in procurement, R&D, health & safety, etc.).

Support clients in going forward in a broader ESG transformation; including shifting operating models and processes, governance and reporting/information flows.

Assist in (strategic) external communication (stakeholder-specific communication, sustainability reports following GRI and CSRD/ESRS standards).
Skills/background of our ideal senior consultant ESG/Sustainability:

7+ years’ experience in ESG strategy, implementation and/or non-financial reporting frameworks.

Prior consulting or industry experience or experience in advising (C-level) clients on strategies related to sustainability.

Knowledge of the CSRD (Corporate Social Responsibility Directive) and the EU taxonomy.
-
Degree in a relevant discipline, for example, engineering, sustainable development, environmental science, chemistry or finance and economics.

Full working proficiency in Dutch and English (mandatory), and French is an advantage.

Knowledge and experience of business strategy and operations, with either a strong financial background and/or experience in the field of non-financial reporting.

Basics understanding and insight into the topics of decarbonisation, circular economy and due diligence.

Understanding of key sustainability issues and trends and how they link to business value.

Understanding of the policies, procedures and controls needed to support non-financial reporting.

Ability to think strategically, but also identify, develop, and implement practical solutions.

Strong stakeholder management skills, up to the board level - with excellent written and verbal communication.

Ability to lead new business development by proactively identifying potential opportunities for new engagements and by responding to tenders.

Ability to manage project teams and develop other team members by sharing knowledge, delegating work, and counselling.
