Lead AI Architect
At Möbius, we turn complex business problems into smart AI solutions — and we need the architect who makes sure they're built to last. You'll be the technical compass of our AI practice: shaping decisions, challenging engineers, and ensuring every architecture is as solid as it is strategic. If you have sharp technical judgment and the confidence to use it, we would love to hear from you!
About
Note: This vacancy is meant for candidates who are fluent in Dutch, besides having the right technical background.
Möbius is a consulting firm that helps organizations within various sectors to design and implement the best solutions. Our +140 colleagues are active in Belgium and the Netherlands and have been guiding a diversity of organizations for over 28 years.
Among other things, we help companies transform their most complex and time-consuming processes with AI - from customization to scalable platforms.
To further support our growth and make our team even more impactful, we are looking for a Lead AI architect. You notice if an architecture is really right and have the technical knowledge to challenge engineers and think broadly enough to make the right architecture choices for each context.
Your role
You start from a business problem: a stack of documents being manually processed, customer service drowning in repetitive emails, a process taking too much time, ... and translate that into the most appropriate architecture. Sometimes that's a custom solution, sometimes a scalable platform that works across multiple clients or use cases. You make that choice consciously and reasoned.
You don't build everything yourself, but you know exactly what is appropriate. You review architectures at drawing level, ask the right questions and make sure that what engineers build is actually right - technically and strategically.
In reality, this means:
-
Analyzing business problems and translating them into the most appropriate AI architecture
-
Making and defending architectural choices: which components, which platform, build vs. buy - based on Azure, but also more broadly
-
Monitoring platform choices and reusability across projects and clients
-
Performing architecture reviews and challenge engineers on quality, standards and scalability
-
Collaborating with engineers as senior peer - not as manager, but as technical conscience of the team
Our ideal Lead AI architect
-
Has a master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field
-
Gained several years of relevant work experience
-
Has in-depth experience with LLM applications: RAG, agents, fine-tuning, prompt engineering, ... and knows the pitfalls and best practices
-
Knows the Azure AI ecosystem (Azure OpenAI, AI Search, Functions, Logic Apps) and knows when to deploy which component and when to choose something else
-
Can do an architecture review at drawing level and question engineers on their choices: constructive but sharp
-
Thinks in platforms and reusability, sees when and how a solution can be made scalable
-
Communicates clearly, to both a technical and non-technical audience and knows how to make an architectural choice without getting lost in details
-
Is fluent in Dutch and preferably has experience in a broad sector context as AI challenges in finance, industry and healthcare have more in common than one might think
- Is a team player who enjoys working with different stakeholders to solve complex AI issues
You combine technical depth with strategic overview. You know when an LLM architecture is sound and when it is not - not because you built it yourself, but because you understand the principles inside out. You think as carefully about the right chunking strategy in a RAG pipeline as you do about whether a platform approach delivers more than a custom build.
You don't have to be the best programmer or review code at the line level. You certainly don't need to be a classic salesperson either. What you do need is sharp technical judgment, the courage to express it and the ability to bring others along with you. Experience with classic ML or computer vision is a nice to have, but not a requirement.
